The Summary
Schedule Sept. 28 - 29, 2008 (2days)
Place The archery field at Kangsu Sport Park in Busan
Participants 100 archers from 24 countries / 50 Korean archers
The Guidelines
  • It is not practical for the Organization Committee to adopt every traditional rule from the attending countries for 2008 WTAF. Thus, in considering the characteristics of and the preferences for the traditional archeries in the world, and in attempts to establish the international traditional archery competitions, the Committee has selected 5 styles of traditional archeries originated with 5 countries:
    1. the US, 2. Hungary, 3. Japan, 4. Mongolia, and 5. Korea. The individual rounds for 2008 WTAF will be progressed in following the rules of these 5 traditional styles.
  1. By lot, each participant will be grouped with 4 others, and establish the group shooting order.
  2. 5 archers in each group also establish the individual shooting order.
  3. Every group will be arranged with 30 different groups and have its turn. Then, the group No. 1 starts the round from Target No. 1 (US field archery).
  4. The first round for Target No. 1 will be finished after all the archers in a group complete the 4 times of shootings each. The round will be processed in the way that the first archer shoots the first arrow into Target No.1, and the second, the third, the fourth, and the fifth players shoot their first arrows into their targets. Then, the first archer shoots the second arrow into the target, and the others shoot their second arrows into their targets. This will continue until the fifth archer completes the final shooting for which he/she uses the fourth arrow.
  5. In completion of the first round, each group rests for 20 minutes. Then, it moves to the second round with Target No. 2, and plays with the same rule as the first round.
  6. In completion of all the rounds, the ranks of the archers will be made by the total scores collected from each round.
  7. During the resting time, 20 minutes, the staff, the umpire, and the recorder figure the scores.
